Full Time

Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool

A thrilling game at White Hart Lane ends honours even with James Milner and Danny Rose grabbing the goals for Spurs and the Reds respectively.

Jürgen Klopp's team arguably deserved the win on the evidence of the chances they created, not to mention the marginal offside call that denied Sadio Mane a goal.

Changes for both teams as the game nears its conclusion.

Harry Winks takes the place of Christian Eriksen for Spurs, while Kevin Stewart is on for Adam Lallana for the Reds.

Wijnaldum fires a shot in from the edge of the box which rifles off Alderweireld's arm before Vorm collects.

The Reds perhaps unlucky not to get another spot-kick.

Sadio Mane's race is run and he leaves the field to be replaced by Daniel Sturridge.

Yellow Card

Jordan Henderson is cautioned for firing some stern words at the referee after a decision goes against him.

A change for Spurs who bring Josh Onomah on in place of Harry Kane.

Clyne cuts in off the right and gets a shot away with his left but it is always curling away from Vorm's goal.

Dele Alli collects a yellow card after kicking the ball away after the referee had awarded a foul to Liverpool.

Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool (Rose)

Dier chips a ball over from the right and Rose is on hand at the back post to fire in a low shot at Mignolet's near post.

A change for the visitors as Philippe Coutinho makes way for Divock Origi.

Yellow Card

Dejan Lovren goes in the book for kicking the ball away in frustration after a decision goes against him.

A great chance for Spurs as Eriksen meets a low ball across the box but he can't keep his left-footed shot down and it flies harmlessly over the bar.

Match shot

Milner puts the Reds ahead from the spot.

Liverpool have the ball in the Spurs net but they aren't two ahead.

A slick build-up resulted in Lallana crossing for Mane to smash home but the No.20 was adjudged to have been offside when receiving the ball from Coutinho.

So close! Matip rises highest to meet a Milner corner but his header at goal skims the bar on its way over.

That would've been a decent way to mark his Premier League debut.

Yellow Card

Jan Vertonghen is given a caution after fouling Sadio Mane out wide.

Liverpool are sloppy with possession deep in their own half and that allows Eriksen the space to crack off a shot.

Thankfully, the Dane can only drag one wide.

Wijnaldum curls an effort at goal from the edge of the box which whistles past the post - unlucky.

Liverpool restart the game and are attacking the end housing the away support this half.

Half Time

Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

The referee brings a close to the first half at White Hart Lane and Liverpool lead by one goal thanks to James Milner's penalty.

It's been an intense game, as you'd expect from these teams, and we'd probably be enjoying this if we were neutrals!

Yellow Card

Philippe Coutinho goes in the book for obstructing a quick free-kick attempt from Tottenham as three minutes of added time are shown.

Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool (Milner pen)

James Milner steps up and sends Vorm the wrong way with a powerful penalty into the left-hand corner.

Firmino takes a great touch past Lamela in the box and leaves the winger no choice but to drag him down.

Match shot

Coutinho gets a shot off in the Spurs box.

Yellow Card

Sadio Mane sees yellow now after upending Dele Alli while stretching for the ball.

Yellow Card

Danny Rose the first player to go in the book for a late challenge on Firmino out wide.

An enforced change for the hosts as the injured Kyle Walker makes way for summer signing Vincent Janssen.

That'll require a reshuffle with Eric Dier dropping into the back four.

Another gilt-edged chance for Coutinho as he picked out at the far post by Mane, but the Brazilian's low shot is straight at Vorm.

Coutinho fires off a deflected shot after Milner wins the ball high up the pitch but it flies just over Vorm's bar.

Liverpool asserting themselves now.

Match shot

The two bosses greet each other ahead of kick-off at White Hart Lane.

Mane gets a shot away in the box and it looks like a deflection might carry it in but Vorm is there to palm away.

The linesman's flag then relieves the pressure on the hosts, who were all at sea.

No sign of this game settling down just yet, though the Reds are starting to see a lot more of the ball.

This looks like two evenly matched teams thus far.

A great chance for the Reds as Mane wins the ball high up the pitch and releases Firmino.

The No.11 finds his fellow Brazilian Coutinho in the box but his low shot is well saved by Michel Vorm.

A frantic start to proceedings at White Hart Lane with Spurs looking to assert themselves early on.

Liverpool haven't had as much of the ball but the chances to counter already seem clear here.

Tottenham get the game under way.

A word with Dejan

Dejan Lovren chats to Sky Sports ahead of today's clash.

Poch has his say

Mauricio Pochettino knows Tottenham are in for a tough test this afternoon after watching the Reds' 4-3 win over Arsenal on the opening weekend.

The Argentine writes in his programme notes: "We saw how dangerous Liverpool can be on the opening weekend when they beat Arsenal 4-3 and scored some fantastic goals.

"Jürgen has got his team working hard around the pitch so we must be ready from the first whistle to be strong and compete as hard as we know we can if we are going to replicate last weekend's result and start a good run of form."

And so, what about the weather here in north London I hear you all cry?

Well, it's fairly overcast, a bit humid, and a wee bit windy - somewhere in between the conditions we experienced at Burnley and Burton in the last week in our expert opinions.

Happy now?

Finishing touches

The stage is almost set at White Hart Lane as the finishing touches to the lines on the pitch are applied ahead of kick-off this afternoon. The surface is looking immaculate.
