It was late on Thursday night when the Brazil international’s switch to the Reds from AS Roma on a long-term deal was confirmed.
We followed the 25-year-old throughout the day as he completed his medical, sealed the formalities of his contract signing and conducted his media duties with LFCTV.
Alisson’s English was evident and, though expecting the stopper to struggle with his own accent, Robertson is sure it will aid the transition process.
“It’s brilliant for us,” the defender told Liverpoolfc.com when asked for his reaction to the transfer, on board the team flight to Charlotte for the USA tour.
“I didn’t get to see him but a few of the lads saw him doing his medical. He speaks good English, which is a bonus. I’m not sure if he speaks Scottish! I’ll test that out.
“I’m sure he’ll settle in quickly with Bobby being here and Fabinho having just signed. Alberto [Moreno] can speak the language.
“It’s the same with the other lads, Naby and Fabinho – and Shaqiri will meet us over here. Those two have really settled in. You can see them getting more confident; I thought the two of them played their best game against Blackburn and it’s down to being more comfortable with the players and learning the system a bit better.
“It will stand us in good stead for the season ahead. Squad depth is important with a long season ahead – that’s what the manager has been trying to do.”

Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United are the opposition in the coming week, with all three matches available to watch live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO (excluding USA).
And the nature of the trip gives Jürgen Klopp’s men the chance to increase their level with the opening Premier League game of 2018-19 in mind, according to Robertson.
“The gaffer has not let the intensity drop in training at all. We’ve been playing against each other as well,” he said.
“The intensity has been there and it’s all about stepping it up now leading towards the West Ham game.
“We’ll hopefully be competing with the two Manchester clubs [in the coming season], and Borussia Dortmund are a top, top side. It’ll be three big games and it’s a bit more tasty; they’re games you want to play in and ones that will step up our pre-season and get us ready for the first game of the season.”
