Liverpool's possible Champions League opponents confirmed

There are five potential opponents for Liverpool in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Having topped Group E after a 2-0 win at Salzburg on Tuesday night, the European Cup holders will be seeded in Monday’s draw for the first round of the knockout stages.

The Reds will be paired with a team who finished second in their section – but cannot face Napoli or fellow Premier League sides Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Which means Jürgen Klopp’s men are set to face one of the following five teams when the tournament resumes in February.

Real Madrid
Atalanta
Atletico Madrid

Borussia Dortmund
Lyon

The first legs in the last 16 will be played across February 18/19 or 25/26, with the return matches to be held on March 10/11 or 17/18.

As a seeded team, Liverpool will play the first leg away from home and the second leg at Anfield.
