Internationals: Van Dijk captains Dutch to Euro 2020 qualification

Virgil van Dijk captained the Netherlands to qualification for Euro 2020 on Saturday.

The Liverpool centre-back helped his country claim the point they required to advance from Group C to the finals by drawing 0-0 with Northern Ireland.

Georginio Wijnaldum was an unused substitute for the Dutch in Belfast, with Divock Origi also remaining on the bench throughout Belgium’s 4-1 away win over Russia.

Meanwhile, Harry Wilson and Neco Williams both got on the scoresheet for Wales.

Wilson did so in the senior side’s 2-0 victory in Azerbaijan and Williams netted two penalties in the U19s’ 2-2 draw with Russia.
