Red Neighbours brings festive cheer to local pensioners

LFC's Red Neighbours programme held two special Christmas events at Anfield this week to celebrate the festive season with hundreds of local residents.

Four-hundred-and-fifty pensioners were invited to the parties through the club’s community programme, who linked up with Merseyside Police, local councillors and a variety of social housing and community groups in a bid to tackle social isolation during the Christmas period.

Reds legends Ian Rush and Gary McAllister and club CEO Peter Moore also joined the celebrations, chatting to the guests and taking part in a lively festive sing-a-long.

During the winter months, the main focus of the Red Neighbours team is the issue of social isolation, with many events and activities taking place in the local community to combat loneliness and seclusion among residents.
