62 Well, the moment we all wanted almost came true. A loose ball in the centre bounced tantalisingly for that man, Jamie Carragher, to volley goalwards. The No.23 could not have hit it better but the 30-yard blast bounced away off the upright. Amazing noise at Anfield as that flew towards goal.
60 So unlucky for Downing – the winger whipped through the right channel after collecting possession yards into the QPR half and got into a shooting position. The wide-man was at a narrow angle, though, and his strike found the side-netting. Good play.

21 Wicked delivery into the QPR area by Glen Johnson after skinning his marker but nobody in Red can connect. 20 minutes played and Brendan Rodgers’ side are well on top.
19 Superb example of the other side of the 20-year-old’s game there; after failing to complete a through ball, Coutinho chased down the man who blocked his pass and won a throw-in for Liverpool.

14 The Brazilian responds with a curling, inswinging corner from the left which Robert Green has to peddle back and tip over to keep out of the QPR goal.

6 Now the Londoners do enjoy some possession and after a clever passing exchange, Ji-Sung Park blasts at goal – blocked by Martin Skrtel. Loic Remy subsequently creates room in the area and falls under a challenge by Lucas Leiva. The referee – Martin Atkinson – was again unmoved.
4 Certainly a bright start from the Reds here, QPR have yet to enter the Liverpool half.
2 From the corner, Coutinho heads goalwards at the back post – his effort is cleared but replays suggest the ball was over the line. Nothing is awarded by the officials.
