Sylvan Richardson joined Liverpool as a part-time masseur following the arrival of Roy Hodgson in 2010.
Sylvan, who was the original lead guitarist in Simply Red, works with the first team for a few hours each day.
He explained: "I'm a soft-tissue therapist. I'm in every day doing pre-hab, which is helping to prepare players pre-training or pre-match, and also recovery work."
The Londoner has previously worked with the English Taekwondo and Squash teams, the British Wrestling Team and the footballer Andy Cole.
As well as his work at Anfield, Sylvan helps out the British Olympic Cycling Team - a role he took up in 2007.
But it is his former position in pop band Simply Red which is of most interest to colleagues. but thankfully Sylvan is not a Manchester United fan like ex-bandmate Mick Hucknall.
