| Job Title:U18s manager |
Steve Cooper was appointed academy manager in May 2011 following a highly successful spell as head of U12-U16.
The Welshman earned his coaching spurs at Wrexham where he had a four-year stint as a player before moving to the backroom staff at the Racecourse Ground.
Cooper enjoyed great success as the head of youth with the Red Dragons and led them to victory in the U18 Youth Alliance prior to his move to Liverpool in October 2008.
His impressive work ethic led to continued progression through the Kirkby ranks and, after assisting Pep Segura as the reserve team's temporary coach at the end of the 2010-11 campaign, he was eventually installed as academy manager.
Cooper was one of the youngest coaches in Europe to obtain his UEFA Pro Licence and also holds an FA Academy Managers Licence.
He said: "Frank McParland has taken on more responsibility and passed on the academy manager's role to me. I'm very honoured to be in this position and I am well aware of its importance."
"I will now look after the operational side of things in Kirkby but will always maintain a focus on the football side of it because that is the fundamental part of an Academy."
"I plan to remain actively involved in the grassroots football at the facility and will continue to work as hard as possible to ensure we have an Academy to be proud of."
