Nigel Jones arrived at the Academy in September 2010 having spent the previous six years as the doctor to the England Rugby Union National Academy and England U21s.

He works part time at the Academy (four half days per week) and is also on the bench for the reserves and U18s fixtures.

In addition to his role at LFC, Nigel works for the English Institute of Sport in Manchester and runs an orthopaedic/sports medicine service for Sefton PCT.

He does a lot of teaching in his role as an educational supervisor for young sports medicine doctors in Merseyside and Manchester.
