I think this shows how well we can progress but also shows that a little more genuine quality aged 24-27 to take us further next season

"I would prefer not to be the lowest age in the league and take out sterling and we probably arent. Doesnt matter on ages really, its the quality of player we need young or older. a couple more experienced signings and we should be aiming for the top of the table dont mind the bottom of an age statistic. "

"Bear in mind this includes Carra at 35 and Stevie at 32 - so with Carra out our average age for next season is already even lower!! This bodes well, especially seeing the young talent we have got - players who will only get better. We must be patient, but LFC is definitely heading in the right direction. Let's all get behind FSG and BR. YNWA."

"we need to boast about more miningful stats, like league position than just the lowest age average.infect this stats simply points out that we need some experience in the squad, and that is something that Gerrard has been preaching since the last transfer window.BR and FSG,now the ball is in your court"

"Just goes to show what BR & FSG have achieved with such a young squad. 'You can't with the league with youngsters' was once famously quoted & rightly so; with at least 4 cultured signings, we could be fighting for the t!tle next season."

"Hate to use Manu as an example. At start of season questions where raised about their defence. Young dodgey keeper, 2 centre halfs the wrong side of 30 an aging LB and then youngsters with potential but barely any experience. "
ArtistFormelyKnownAsAni-road
3rd Apr 2013 15:24
"Compare that to LFC. Exprienced top class keeper, 2 experienced yet still youngish CB's. 2 international full backs (ok Enrique may not get picked for Spain but he would no doubt get into any other country's squad). Which club has been appalling in defence and which club barely leaks goals? "
ArtistFormelyKnownAsAni-road

"We are the team leaking goals, the team with the supposed great defence, the team with bags of experience. This age thing is nonsense. It's all about ability. Carra has had to come in to shaw things up. He has abilty, Agger apart I think teh rest of defence is inconsistent and prone to errors"

"IN MY OPINION SOME OF OUR YOUNGSTERS WERE THROWN IN AT THE DEEP END BECAUSE OF CIRSTANCES. MAINLY DUE TO THE LACK OF DEPTH IN THE SQUAD AND HAVING TO PLAY EUROPA LEAGUE QUALIFIERS ON A THURSDAY NIGHT. IT'S NO COINCIDENCE THAT SINCE COUTINHO AND STURRIDGE CAME IN CERTAIN PLAYERS HAVEN'T FIGURED MUCH. GOOD EXPERIENCE FOR THE FUTURE THOUGH."

"It augers well for the future that kids like Suso, Sterling, Jonjo etc have plenty of premier games under their belt which will hold them in good stead next season. We can thank BR for thinking ahead and we will benefit from this. We have an exciting crop of kids and we should all be enthused..."

"Buddha. Can't thank BR for fast tracking youngsters to the first team mate. He had no choice. 1 recognised striker. As soon as the balance was addressed in Jan these youngsters haven't got a look in. Agree it give's great experience and bodes well for the future but much to circ-u-m-stances as opposed to being a masterstroke"

"ArtistFormelyKnownAsAni-road 3rd Apr 2013 17:14 Point well made. BR worked with what he had; fortunately due to KKs development, BR had a good crop of young talent to help keep us in the top half of the table. But credit where its due, BR still had to keep them developing, & as SG said recently, 'the youngsters haven't achieved anything yet'."

"i actually thought villa had the youngest team but i guess sterling, suso, andre n shelvey all 20 n below have lowered the average age. on experienced players i think we have enough reina, jones, enrique, johno, agger lucas, stevie, stewie n suarez. thats quite a number of them compared to arsenal.so we cant give the excuse that we dont have enough experiencedd players "

"Ani, BR gets full credit. He could have played it safe and kept the old guard of Kuyt, Maxi etc but he showed his intent by doing a mass cull. He then gave Sterling, Suso and Jonjo their wings and next season we will reap the benefits. His purchase of Coutinho and Sturridge will go down as brilliant. "

"The point about LFC being better equipped is a process that takes time and credit to BR for doing this in a sensible fashion whilst blooding the youngsters who will be a real assets next season. We should be celebrating these golden youngster as they are the envy of every club. BR had the choice to either keep the oldies or promote talented kids, thankfully he chose the latter. "

ADD TO THIS THE AUGUST TRANSFER DEBACLE AND IT IS CLEAR AS DAYLIGHT THAT BR HAD NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO BLOOD THE YOUNGSTERS. "it's hard to say why br played so many of the young players earlier in the season. He has said that he put a lot of faith in them and they fell short. Is he challenging them to step up or did he just get it wrong, we cannot afford to make the same mistake again. "

"Who else would of taken up that mantle? By the time January came and reinforcements arrived we could of had a dejected team, shy of goals being threatened with relegation. That is not me being dramatical at all. Take away Luis's goals, particulalry before Jan and see where we would be. Excuse spelling btw. Not proof reading and ain't got my spell check. Just in case in doesn't make sense."

"Ani, its well doented that BR had the final say in releasing the older players. There were meetings to lay out his plans and the policy was to shift out older and non-performing players. We should be rejoicing that the kids got outings as it will auger well for theirs and our future. "
Buddha130654

"Ani, I am not sure why you put a spin on what BR inherited, its clear he was bequeathed a royal mess. What would anyone call having ageing players, Kuyt, Maxi, Bellers and non performers, Adam, Hendo, Downing, Spearo and AC making up the bulk of the first team squad.
