"Good insight as usual by Tomkins. In a way i am a bit worried about the middle of the park. I still need to see the insurgence of next in line to fill in Gerrard and Lucas. I can see Joe Allen there but not so convinced. Really pray that Hendo, Suso, Assaidi, Sterling and Pacheco can step up in nesr future. Otherwise, all look really promising. "

"Spot on mate but with the way the team is playing and producing the right results then I just don't think only top four will be possible but league success can be a possibility as long as Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho,Lucas and Gerrard can stay fit and we get Ashley Williams to take Caras place then i Believe we can give man u a run for the le...YNWA "

"Luis has had a great season, but he needs to have a few great seasons before I would put him in the same bracket as Hunt, Dalglish, Rush and Fowler. "

"Good, well-written presentation of fact. I miss Paul's regular feature here. Hard to see how the trolls and the haters will find something to whinge at in this, but I'm sure someone will manage. Thanks Paul - made my morning. "

"We have had a glut of unique and fantastic strikers but we have proved also that the whole team needs to gel to win things and we havent had that in a long time. The team that won the CL Final was not by any means a class side apart from Cpt. Gerrard but they all worked to together and wanted it so bad, Im not sure right we have that thruogh out the whole team in every area. "

"fabo2012 - You forgot to add Suso and Assaidi to that list. Williams would be a good signing however I think you got a bit too carried away with saying we can challenge for the league mate. That all depends on who we bring in over the summer. "

"Good read. One thing we need next season is consistency, there's no doubt we have the attacking players to beat any team in the world but then let are selfs down by letting Aston Villa beat us at home. Consistency consistency consistency!!! YNWA"

"An excellent piece as ever! I would have like to hear your opion on our defence especially in the light om the impending and very sad loss of Carra at the end of this season."

"Great as always Paul! Yes strange that the lack of strikers was when we made four consecutive finals 2005-2007! Our team now is good, but with some back-up of similar quality and increase in our pressure while playing a passing game to drag their team around, we can reach the next level. "

"Great piece of article Paul! The good times upfront finally seem to be come back! and let's not forget the squad will evolve newly during the next couple of transfer windows also, another couple of offensive players/wingers could come in very soon! spot on Paul YNWA"

"A really good article, but I think pre-Torres and post-Owen, the key striker to have the most success must have been Kuyt? Great read though!"

"Typical quality from the main man in football journalism- still believe that the addition of Xabi Alonso beside Lucas in a similar set up as with Busquets with spain could be final attacking jigsaw piece. Gerrard quite obviously is still capable of tearing defenses apart in an attacking role. Far too early to be sending him back to sit deep."

"Great read. The attacking options are coming along nicely, now we need to get Howedes or similar for the back line and a beefy DM to backup/compete with Lucas. Currently we have the same number of points as last year but with 2 less games played-bring on the Spurs!"

"Other great joint / second striker partners for the main men mentioned are: Ian St John with Roger Hunt, John Toshack with Keegan, David Johnson was a good foil for Dalglish & Rush, and Heskey deserves a mention as partner for Fowler and Owen. Suarez & Sturridge has great potential."

"You're being unfair to those 2 teams. Darby was in Wembley final last month Jay has over 50 1st team games at Liverpool and may come back. Hammil played in Prem for the previous 2 seasons. Jack Hobbs may get to next year with Hull where he's an important part of the team. Then there's Miki Roque(RIP) who was becoming a major part of Betis' defence before the onset of the pelvic cancer"

"Signing Honda on a free transfer will be a huge coup and smart business. The lad is a proven World Class Player who won the Asia Cup with Japan and many individual presitigious player awards from Asia. Also, getting Honda will increase the fan base in Asia and Japan especially. Will be like Honda (LFC) v Kagawa (Manure). More importantly help Suarez in scoring goals. YNWA"
