"Would be amazing, imagine if Joe Allen and Jonjo could spend a few years playing with and learning from the best passer of a ball in the world? Surely this would be worth changing the transfer policy for (i.e only youngsters). Please Brendan and get well soon."
"sign him.. bring him home.. no matter how old is he.. stop buying kids dear fsg n br. kids need guidance. and he's the right man to guide the kids.. "
"class player still could do a fab job depsite his age he was never had serious pace so what u never had u wont loose, Aldridge made a good point on sky in that we need to go for Walcott and Baa for 20m and maybe alonso on loan"
"seriosuly if we got any hopes of keeping surez then we need to be buying quality now not benchwarmers from other teams - mr rodgers plz go for walcott and baa or surez may leave "
"whats fustrating is since rafas last year we have had money to spend but brought the wrong player,
aqua, carall, downing hendo, adam, allen barini (120mill why do we spend big on avaerage we need pace and qulaity in the team "
"there are bargains to be had - michu, baa just a few examples it we need to dig out such gems insrtead of been lazy and spending vasts sums on average, everton, newcastly swansea all prove with the right scouting you can get a good plyr"
"if we do no other business this year, pull out every stop to get this player back at our club... even at 31, he is head and shoulders above everyone else we've been linked with"
"would love to see him in red shirt again. has a wealth of experience and could help pass on ideas to the younger members of squad. also he loves liverpool. come home xabi even if its in the summer. YNWA "
"I'd welcome back him with open arms, but I believe his salary wage and age are an hindrance to that dream for any LFC supporter who would love have him here again! Anyway pleased that we are still interested in such a Legendary player!"
"Would love to have him back...reminds me of his spectacular goal from the centreline against Luton....but can LFC afford him and balance the books as well? Spend wisely...YNWA!"
"it probabply wont happen as in recent times our managers have preferrede to spend big money on uk based players due to the lack of knowledge of the european market, and the idea that Uk born players blend in quicker has been shown to be a flawd idea as carall n co have proved whilst at the same time mata n co have excelled"
"Well our Yank owners would never take him back, regardless to the outstanding talent he is, because hes not young and British!..... the stupidest policy on transfers EVER "
"I would only want Alonso if it was a loan deal but doubt it will happen as we have already got Sahin on loan from RM, we also have far too many midfield players. "
"I think I would be the only Liverpool fan that would not want this deal to happen. No doubt he is a quality player but statistics do not lie. Even Charlie Adam had a better record than him and he cost less. Fans tend to get carried away these days because of the name of the national team he represents. "
"Our kids at LFC are our future. Alsonso coming back may just set us back in midfield so i would say no. We have Lucas, Allen, Stevie, Hendo, Shelvey which should do the trick. Hendo and Shelvey have come on leaps and bounds in last six months..lets not destroy this progress"
"Wouldn't surprise me if he follows Rafa to Chelsea.....
He has unfinished business at Anfield so lets hope he chooses the right option. Just the type of player we need to be serious of mounting a credible top 4 challenge next season."
" the telepathy between Steve g and xabi would be amazing to see again 60yd passes splitting defences for Luis to score a hatful of goals is just what we need for the next few seasons until the kids mature enough in the first team.2seasons would push on great."
"The selling of Alonso was the beginning of a long period of bad buying/selling decisions and it looks like it is going to continue. We could have had Cash & Sturridge for Torres and could have saved the wasted £35m on Carol. "
"Now we are prepared to pay £12m for Sturridge when Chelsea are so anxious to get rid they are paying him £1.5m to go, and are looking to replace him with Ba a much better player for £7.5m. Why are LFC always on the wrong end of these deals."
"My faith in BR's choices are not helped by the fact that he was chasing Sigurdsson and Dempsey, neither of which can now get a regular start at Spurs. Why didn't we go for Berbatov or better still Defoe when they were available?"
"OldVic - Don't think negative. What makes you think Ba will be better than Sturridge? They bought Torres of us for 50M and he has pretty much been a flop. "
"OldVic - Chelsea have not even signed Ba yet so your comments are pretty much useless right now. Sturridge is a Liverpool player. I suggest you support the lad rather than slating him before he has even kicked a ball for us!"
"Luis7?9 I base my arguement on facts. The Premiership have a table of players rankings according to their performance. For strikers that is for goals/assists etc. Ba is ranked 2nd only to VSP (Suarez is 3rd), Sturridge is 63rd. This is in some degree because of his lack of games, which tells it's own story."
"To get your own comparison go the front page of this site, go to Match+, and click on Player Comparison. Then compare Ba to Sturridge. Even allowing for the fact Ba has played 3x as many games as Sturridge, the comparison is quite stark."
"OldVic - Again you need to realise the club they are currently playing for. Carroll was great for Newcastle but a flop for us. Torres was great for us but a flop at Chelsea, get the drift mate? "
"bring Alonso home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"israr1234 - With or without Alonso, Liverpool will not get top 4. I can explain this to you but I don't have the time to. You can save this comment and post it to me in May if I am wrong. "
"As far as I know Sturridge has not signed for Liverpool yet, he can't until January. So he is NOT a Liverpool player any more than Ba is a Chelsea player yet."
"OldVic - Okay let me rephrase it then. Sturridge will become a Liverpool player this week. Do you have any proof that Ba will become a Chelsea player this week? As far as I know, Sturridge has not featured for Chelsea in their last few games whereas Ba has played for Newcastle. "
"OldVic - You cannot really compare Ba and Sturridge seeing as they play in different positions which is why I have not wasted my time in comparing them. I wonder how many goals Ba would score if he played as a RW? "
"O.K., lets have Sturridge AND Ba and take some of the strtain off Suarez. And while we are about it let Johnson move forward to midfield as that is obviously where he wants to be and sign Richards from Man City, for my money a very under rated defender by his club and country."
"Xabi coming home is a no brainer. We need world class players to challenge for top 4. Simple. He will make a huge difference. Just do it. We all want it. Including Xabi. "
"please fenway...get alonso baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack...he loves this club has the passion and drive no one in europe trains or passes like him....give your loyal fans a 2013 present...."
"Nah.If Alonso come back.If we build future.Buy Leandro Damiao he is eight years younger and more talented than Alonso wont be anymore....just coming warming up here no way."
"would love to see xabi back in a red shirt we have never replaced him in the middle of the park! he would be a hugh boost for us our young uns would learn alot from him come on br and fsg make this happen! its all good and well buyin young for the future but they need experience to learn from "
"WE NEED EXPERIENCE .....IMAGINE IF WE HAD HIM AT STOKE OR FOR VILLA. WE MUST BLAME PREV OWNERS AND MANAGER FOR HIS DEPARTURE. I REMEMBER HIS FORM DIPPED BADLY AFTER COMING BACK FROM LONG LAY OFF AND OUR ENEMIES PARADING AS SOME FICKLE FANS THOUGHT HE WAS SPENT. BY THE WAY THESE ENEMIES HIC. FANS ARE STILL AROUND."
"aussie78101 - It would have been mouth watering about 4/5 years ago. But you need to start thinking about the present and the future. Sterling, Sturridge, Suarez, Assaidi, Suso and Gerrard. Now that is mouth watering! "
"BRadmirer
1st Jan 2013 12:42 - the same brilliant man who is responsible for bringing in most of the bright things in our current first 11 and reserves as well as for the Academy setup. Incidentally, 'Aqualani' does not seem to be doing all that badly at the minute, would you not say? Certainly not as badly as Adam, Allen or Henderson, say."
"Bring him back BR,we need goals and also could create the chanses we need him and stevie in the middle again would be amazing for us, plus his experience could help out our youngsters "
