"Best player on the pitch is on the losing side. They had no answer to Sterling. What a player. At the end of the day, winning or losing is meaningless at this age group. It's all about developing the Next Generation, and Sterling is just that. Lisbon though, were a well oiled machine. Liverpool, unlucky not score at least 3 goals.

"Hard luck lads - you will have learned from this. YNWA.
I would be interested to know the attendance figures - home and a way supporters, as I am unable to get to Anfield very often due to distance and health. :-)"
"It was a learning experience not only for the players but also for the coach! The team which played in the second half was definitely much better then the first! The three goals scored exposed the weakness in the defense! All is not lost, Plenty of games to come after this and we can still improve and go on to the next round!"
"What a pity! We played some good football, specially in the second half, but we have not been quite cinic to score. Anyway, congrats to Raheem Sterling, he was absolutely the best, brilliant as other lads, overall Silva, Suso, Wisdom, Sama and Adorjan. Unfortunately we were unlucky. Now let's look at the next game of the competition! YNWA "
"nmokhan:
Please stop complaining!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try to make the lads feel proud and confident for the next games - complaining will destroy their confidence. I do not like your at-t-itude.
"
"should'nt have taken morgan off, best player for me...expected more of suso, but tbh as shelvey was off it was better. anyway well played in the second half, go on like that lads!"
"what is with halfs this season already started and first team bad 2nd half now a bad 1st half this game for thease lads but we still got ages to go it will all change good luck all the lads YNWA"
"I like to watch Liverpool playing like mad-dog style because when they play like this they win...same style for both of 1st and 2nd team... movement so slow whether they are attacking or defending. Give too much room and time for rival to attack that costs us goal... if they play a bit more quick especially for defending then we can get the ball back to attack..."
"this is definitely what we needed: to be challenged and shown how much they need to improve. this game was a signal of the difference between the two systems, as sporting's system is legendary and well established, whereas ours is only just getting off the ground again"
"not the best result, but still a good performance especially in the second half, none the less lets learn from our mistakes and move on to the next match. YNWA"
"Considering we fielded players like Robinson, Shelvey & Sterling who all have some first team experience and the game was at Anfield this was a disappointing result.
Hopefully the lads will learn from this and realise they have to work hard to make it to the top. Talent alone will get you nowhere in modern football."
"I dont think Shelvey fitted in well. We looked a lot more threatening when he went off. Ngoo and Adorjan looked good when they came on and Suso was better when he moved up the field. Wisdom was good at rightback. Silva was a handful and wee Raheem was excellent. They had three real shots and unfortunatly scored 3 good goals."
"Had the boys kept their shots low on either side of the keeper, we would gotten a few goals, like the 1st two Lisbon goals. Overall our lads played well and have massive potentials. -YNWA Los Angeles"
"We gave them too much space in the 1st half particularly in mid field, which cost us 2 goals.Surprisingly we were better in 2nd half without Robbo & Jonjo, but being 2 down were always chasing the game. On the second half performance we were as good as S L and could have won it."
"Shelvey was awful, he looks so lazy! Suso was kept deep because of him. adorjan shoulda started over jonjo. Morgan and sterling played well, as did toni silva. mcgivern struggled too, shame flanno didn't play and ngoo couldnt start just yet. unlucky lads YNWA"
"They finished moves off with excellent goals. If the lads had been equally as clinical in front of goal they would have won 6 or 7 to 3!!!! Sporting did defend like a back line of Carra's to be fair."
