LFC WomenTaylor Hinds interview: Returning from injury, Bristol City clash and closing in on a century
Taylor Hinds has outlined the determination of the Liverpool FC Women squad to enjoy a strong end to the season and challenge for a top-four spot in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Matt Beard’s side get the final phase of the campaign under way on Saturday when they travel to face Bristol City at Ashton Gate (kick-off 12.30pm BST).
With four matches remaining in 2023-24, the Reds are just two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the WSL table.
Vice-captain Hinds, who is nearing a century of games for the club with 98 appearances currently, spoke to Liverpoolfc.com this week about the trip to Bristol City, her pride in playing for the Reds, and more…
On returning from her injury lay-off…
I’m buzzing to be back. It felt like a really long time but it actually wasn’t that long. You are just eager to get back aren’t you really, so I’m just happy to be back. When I first picked up the injury before the Arsenal game I was like, ‘I’ve never missed a game for Liverpool’, and then I found out the injury was a bit worse than I thought. But credit to our physios and the staff for getting me back and I feel in good shape too.
On there being four games to go and still having a lot to play for...
Definitely. We are just going to take every game as it comes and just really play our best and do the most that we can to try to get those three points. We’ve got tough games coming up but we are just going to take it game by game.
On the resilience of the team this season and picking up a nice reputation as a side others don’t like to play against…
I think that’s what we like to hear as well, that people don’t want to play against us and teams don’t like playing against us. I think that’s good to have and it just goes to show how hard we have worked this season in training and in the games as well.
On Saturday’s trip to Bristol City…
They are a tough team to play against, we know that, and they are in a relegation battle so we know it’s going to be hard to try to get those three points and get goals against them, because they are going to work so hard as a team. It’s always difficult when you play Bristol City because they have a great structure as well so it’s hard to break them down and beat them, but hopefully if we play at our standards then we can get those three points.
On a return to Ashton Gate after clinching the FA Women’s Championship title there in 2022…
I think that was like literally the best feeling ever! It came up on my memories as well, so it’s nice to go back there and it’s also great for Bristol City to be able to play their games there as well.
On closing in on 100 appearances for Liverpool…
It means so much to me. Everyone knows how much I love the club and I love Liverpool as a city, so I think it means a lot to me and my family. It feels like I’ve been here forever.
