Liverpool have beaten Arsenal in the race to sign Atletico Madrid right back Javier Manquillo, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
With Carl Jenkinson expected to leave the Gunners on loan, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had lined up Manquillo as an ideal replacement.
However, Liverpool have now reportedly reached an agreement with the player's representatives and a deal could be announced soon.
Manquillo is capped by Spain at youth level, however the 20-year-old made just seven appearances for Atletico last season.
Manquillo will compete with England internationals Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan for a starting spot at Anfield should he complete the move to Merseyside.
