talkSPORT: French starlet in demand

Real Madrid are locked in a battle with Liverpool and Manchester United to clinch the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

Verratti, 20, is rated one of the best young prospects in Europe and has been earning rave reviews in both the French League and Champions League this season.

Both Liverpool and United have been strongly linked with a move for his signature and there looks set to be a bidding war between the two clubs at the end of the season.

But French newspaper Le Parisien is claiming that Real Madrid have also stepped up their interest in wanting to sign the Italian international.

The Spanish giants are reported to be looking for a long-term replacement for Xabi Alonso, who could be leaving the Bernabeu next summer and feel Verratti could be the perfect replacement.

PSG will be doing everything they can to hold onto their star midfielder and will want at least £30m for his signature.

I doubt we can compete with iether of them in the transfer market or the CL offering would be nice though to get a player over manure for a change.
