Sky Sports understands Liverpool are preparing to make a bid for Swansea midfielder Joe Allen.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers worked with Allen when he was in charge at the Liberty Stadium last season.
Although there has been talk of an agreement that Rodgers would not raid his former club, financial reality dictates that Swansea would be forced to consider significant interest in their players.
Liverpool are yet to bid for the 22-year-old Wales international but indications are that the Reds are ready to firm up interest and test Swansea's resolve.
Allen is currently on Olympic duty with Team GB after enjoying a hugely impressive debut season in the Premier League.
