Jay Rodriguez will snub contract talks with Southampton - as Liverpool and Tottenham wait on a decision, writes Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.
England striker Rodriguez has now been offered a five-year package by the Saints after they realised the Kop and Spurs are on his trail.
Sunday People Sport revealed that Brendan Rodgers has Rodriguez in his sights for the Anfield giants, with Tottenham also lining up a move in this window.
Rodriguez will be out for months yet with cruciate ligament damage but both of the big spenders are willing to buy him in that condition.
Southampton do not want to lose another star, so they have asked his camp to sit down for talks.
But Sunday People Sport can reveal Rodriguez will sit it out and see who else leaves the club - and just how far Liverpool and Spurs go with their bids.
The former Burnley man hit 15 Premier League goals last term before injury cut his season short.
