Liverpool are ready to launch a bid for Marcel Schmelzer at the end of the season after making the Borussia Dortmund star their top transfer target.
The Reds are gearing up a summer of spending, with the club set to seal their place in the Champions League next season - possibly as Premier League winners.
And while manager Brendan Rodgers is coy on their chances of claiming the title, he is already working on a squad for next term, with strengthening the defence a priority.
But according to Bild, Rodgers thinks he's found the solution in Dortmund full-back Schmelzer, who will be a top target when the transfer window re-opens.
The trusted paper says Liverpool are ready to battle hard to land the player.
A previous target for Real Madrid, he could cost upwards of £10million.
