Liverpool have opened talks with Ajax over Holland World Cup star Daley Blind - but face competition to complete his signature.
Blind, who starred for the Dutch in their opening match at Brazil 2014 against Spain, is expected to leave Ajax after the tournament.
And now reports in the Netherlands say Liverpool have made contact with the Eredivisie champions to discuss a move for the versatile defender.Reds chief Ian Ayre has made his interest clear, but Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are also keen on bagging the 24-year-old.
Blind, who can play at left-back, centre back or anywhere across the midfield, is rated at about £12million but he could go for more if a bidding war takes off.
