Liverpool are lining up a £15million raid on Real Madrid for their German midfield power house Sami Khedira.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to beef up his transfer activity in the coming days and adding a tough-tackling defensive midfielder to his squad is a priority.
Khedira, who is part of the Germany squad competing at the World Cup is Brazil, is thought to be available this summer with Madrid ready to cash in on a player who has been ravaged by injury in the last 18 months.
Both parties see a move away as ideal, and Liverpool believe £15million could be enough to get him out of Madrid.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also monitoring the situation, but Liverpool believe they are strong favourites in the race.
The 27-year-old would bring bags of experience and quality to a Liverpool midfield which often left the back four unguarded at times last season, costing them vital points.
