Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez is set to be the centre of a transfer tug of war between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The Reds were reported to have been weighing up a move for Rodriguez. However, talkSPORT has claimed that Brendan Rodgers will face a battle for the forward after new Spurs and former Saints boss, Mauricio Pochettino, firmed up his interest in the 25-year-old, despite being told by Southampton that Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin were not for sale.
Rodriguez - who is also reportedly being tracked by Premier League champions Manchester City - was thought to have been offered a new five-year contract by the St Mary's outfit to stay at the club this summer.
The Saints have seen no less than five players depart the side recently after Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers all left the club on lucrative deals.
