Liverpool are ready to spend up to £26million to land Adam Lallana from Southampton this summer.
The Reds have made signing Lallana a key priority, but despite being hopeful of doing business at around £20million, their opening offer has been rejected.
Brendan Rodgers is determined to land the England player though, and after agreeing to buy Rickie Lambert for £4million, he is set to return to the Saints with a £26million offer for Lallana.
The huge fee would be paid in two installments, but Liverpool hope it will be enough to finally tempt Southampton to part with their captain.
Liverpool will make the new offer in the coming days in a bid to get Lallana's signature secured before he heads off to Brazil with the England team for the World Cup.
