Mail: Reds keen on Sampdoria star

Liverpool have enquired about Sampdoria striker Mauro Icardi. The Argentine has also been watched by Tottenham and Manchester City but looks poised to join Inter Milan.

The 19-year-old impressed during a run-out against Roma at the weekend, netting Sampdoria's third goal in a 3-1 win.

The Argentina U20 international was the subject of a sizeable bid from Napoli during the winter transfer window, while Inter are said to be leading the race to sign him in the summer.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was in the stands to see Icardi first hand and said: 'He scored a great goal and moved very well and I must say I liked him.'

Rather than trying to lure those promising foreign youngstes, would not it be better get worth and get make the grade to the bunch of young lads we have in our Academy? They are 18 - 19 years old as Icardi, their names are Smith, Ibe, Peterson, Siclair! What's your point?
