Schalke may not be battling just to keep Julian Draxler this coming summer, but also Max Meyer too, after it emerged he has a release clause in his contract.
Draxler, who was chased by Arsenal in last month's transfer window, has a release clause set at €45.5m which would make Schalke powerless to resist his departure, if he chose to go.
Meyer too is at risk, as according to German daily Bild, his contract contains a release clause set at €25.5m - small change to his suitors.
Chelsea were seriously interested in Meyer last year, along with Liverpool, and that forced Schalke to sign the midfielder to a new deal running until 2018.
But the €25.5m clause, which will apply this summer, makes the Ruhr giants vulnerable.
However, the 18-year-old has done his best to dampen down speculation of a switch and was quoted as saying: "I feel very comfortable here, the outlook is good. I see no reason to leave."
Meyer has clocked up 17 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke in the current campaign, managing to score five goals and create a further two for his teammates.
