Liverpool, Schalke and Wolfsburg have been placed on alert after it was revealed that winger Sidney Sam can quit Bayer Leverkusen after the World Cup for a cut-price €2.5m.
Sam's contract expires in 2015 and Leverkusen are keen to tie the Germany international down to a new deal as the vultures circle the BayArena.
But with the existence of a clause which means Sam can leave for just €2.5m, the 25-year-old may feel there has never been a better opportunity for a change of scenery.
Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller knows the task in front of him, securing Sam, is tough, but has pledged to speak to the winger in the festive season.
"We have agreed that we will get together at Christmas," Voller admitted to Bild.
"It will be difficult," he added. Voller also revealed that he turned down an offer of €6m from Schalke for Sam this summer. The sporting director explained:"Sporting success was more important to us."
