Adam Lallana has travelled to Liverpool for a medical as the club close in on the £25m transfer of the Southampton midfielder.
The deal could be announced as early as today, and he will unveiled alongside recent signing Emre Can early next week.
The 26-year-old, who played in all three matches for England at the World Cup, had been linked with a move to Anfield all summer.
Lallana is the latest player high-profile name to leave St Mary's, after Rickie Lambert also joined the Reds for £4m, and Luke Shaw signed for Manchester United for £30m today.
Can signed for Liverpool last month from after the Reds triggered the £9.75m release clause in his contract at Bayer Leverkusen.
Barring a brief loan spell at Bournemouth in 2007, Lallana has spent his whole career at Southampton, and enjoyed two promotions with the club.
