Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed an apparent boost in their reported pursuits of Aurelien Chedjou with the news that the Cameroon international hopes to leave Lille during the summer transfer window.
According to talkSPORT, Arsenal and Liverpool are both admirers of Chedjo, as are Premier League rivals Newcastle, and the defender could be set for a move to England at the end of the season.
It is unclear whether Arsenal, Liverpool or Newcastle have made a formal approach for the 27-year-old, but Chedjo claims interest in his signature from abroad, and plans to end his six-year association with Lille when the transfer window opens again.
"It seems to me that I've had a rather good season," he told France Football.
"There are people who have been scouting me - my agents have told me about it.
"And most importantly, after six years here, a cycle is coming to an end. I am one of the pieces of furniture in the dressing-room here. I feel ready to join one of the top European clubs."
Along with Chedjo, Arsenal and Liverpool are also both credited with interest in Athletic Bilbao centre-back Fernando Amorebieta, as Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers make plans to sign defensive reinforcements.
Arsenal are in need of added numbers in the centre of defence, while the retirement of Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is likely to encourage Rodgers to bring a replacement to Anfield.
