Forza Italian Football: Reds on the trail of defender

Liverpool are thought to be lining up a bid for Lazio's Modibo Diakite.

The 25-year-old is likely to leave the Biancocelesti after refusing to sign a new contract.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Reds are keen to take the French centre-back to the Premier League and will look to secure a cut-price move in January.

Diakité joined Lazio in 2006 and has made 90 appearances for the club.
