Liverpool are turning their attention to Swiss left-back Ricardo Rodriguez after their pursuit of Sevilla's Alberto Moreno has come to a standstill, Daily Mail reports.
Talks between the Reds and Sevilla for Spanish full-back Moreno have not come to fruition, frustrating Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.
Now Rodgers is keen to revive the club's interest in Wolfsburg ace Rodriguez, who had an extremely successful season for the Bundesliga side in their last campaign.
The 21-year-old scored seven goals and supplied 10 assists while playing at left-back, making him a perfect candidate for Rodgers' attacking outfit.
The Reds thought they had landed previous target Moreno, but Sevilla increased their asking price to £20m - a value Liverpool believe is too high for the player.
Now it seems the Merseyside club will drop all negotiations for Moreno and focus on bringing Rodriguez to Anfield instead.
The Swiss international is currently in Brazil for the FIFA World Cup, helping his country to a winning start with two assists during a 2-1 over Ecuador.
