LIVERPOOL are poised to offer Manchester United £8m to bring Ecuador international Antonio Valencia to Anfield.
According to caughtoffside, Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his midfield options with the versatile 28-year-old, and a bid to Premier League rivals may be imminent.
The Northern-Irishman is a known admirer of Valencia, and his proficiency both as a winger and right-back only increases Rodgers' admiration.
It is believed that Valencia could be tempted to make the short trip down the M62 having endured an unsatisfactory season at the theatre of dreams.
And with the arrival of new manager Louis Van Gaal, Valencia may decide to opt for the more settled environment that Rodgers can offer.
Valencia is the lynchpin of his South-American side, and has only added to his reputation despite Ecuador's last minute defeat to Switzerland on Sunday.
The £8m figure would constitute a loss for United who paid Wigan £16m for the winger in 2009.
