Liverpool are gearing up to offer Bayern Munich £16m for their highly-rated youngster Xherdan Shaqiri.
Reports claim that Brendan Rodgers is growing disillusioned with the transfer saga surrounding Adam Lallana, and unwilling to meet Southampton's £20m plus demands.
The Northern-Irishman has instead turned his attentions to 22-year-old Swiss international Shaqiri.
And with the season now 59 days away, Rodgers will be in no mood to relinquish his target. The winger is both younger and could be secured for a lower fee, making greater financial sense to Kop chiefs.
The forward has enjoyed a productive season with the perennial German champions, helping them claim their second successive Bundesliga title.Despite featuring in just 10 of Munich's league games, the youngster was still able to net six goals with a further two assists to boot.
Shaqiri is currently on international duty with Switzerland, and at the tender age of 22 has become a lynchpin for Ottmar Hitzfeld's team.
