Liverpool are preparing to raise their bid for Swansea striker Wilfried Bony.
Reports last week suggested the Reds were willing to pay Bony's £20m release clause as their summer spending spree continues.
But it seems that the Anfield outfit's initial bid was substantially lower than that.
Indeed, reports suggest that Brendan Rodgers saw a £12.5m offer dismissed out of hand by the south Wales club.
While Liverpool do have other targets should they fail in a move for the Ivory Coast international, Rodgers is not ready to give up the chase just yet.
It is thought that Liverpool will now return with an offer of £15m plus substantial add-ons.
While that offer will technically still fall short of the release clause, Liverpool are hopeful that Swansea may be more willing to accept the new offer.
Swansea have already landed Bafetimbi Gomis this summer but have also sent Michu on loan to Napoli this summer.
Liverpool have also been linked with moves for Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku, QPR'S Loic Remy and Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette but it seems that Bony remains their priority for the time being.
