Liverpool will resume their pursuit of Sevilla star Alberto Moreno.
Reports circulating in the Spanish media claim Brendan Rodgers is ready to end a long-running game of cat and mouse by begrudgingly activating Moreno's £23m release clause.
Rodgers' rekindled interest is a result of Southampton's capture of Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand - although the prospect of Jose Mourinho selling to his Premier League rivals seemed unlikely.
Moreno's move to Anfield has been one of the summers longest running sagas.A multitude of stories regarding Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre personally visiting Moreno's representatives in Spain appear to have been wide of the mark.
But with the transfer window edging nearer, and targets such as Bertrand no longer on the market - Rodgers will use his sizeable funds to bring another youngster into his ranks.
