Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is set to reject interest from Galatasaray because he prefers a move to the Premier League.
Huntelaar emerged as a surprise target for Liverpool during the World Cup, with the 30-year-old set to enter the final year of his contract in Germany.
And while the player insisted he wanted to talk about extending his contract with Schalke before making any decisions about a possible move, it seems that he is now willing to contemplate a move away.
Earlier this month he said: "Regarding the rumours about Liverpool, it would only be fair to speak to Schalke first.
"I've talked with Schalke about an extension for a while. After the World Cup I am having a holiday. Then I will speak to them again.
"I'm not talking with my agent about the interest from clubs right now. I'm fully focussed on the tournament."
Cesare Prandelli is keen to have Huntelaar link up with Dutch international teammate Wesley Sneijder in Istanbul.
But the former Ajax and Real Madrid star is not interested in a move to Turkey.
Instead, it is thought that Huntelaar wants to try his luck in the Premier League.
While Liverpool's interest would appear to be over as they close in on Loic Remy, Arsenal, Tottenham and even Manchester United could be in the market to sign Huntelaar for the right price.
