Liverpool have seen their opening offer of £8million for Tottenham target Ben Davies rejected by Swansea.
The Reds took their summer spending past the £60m mark yesterday after clinching the signature of Benfica's Lazar Markovic for a cool £20m.
Tottenham in recent weeks have been keeping an eye on Davies, 21, as they seek to shore up their defence especially with speculation growing that Jan Vertonghen could be heading for the White Hart Lane exit.
Reports suggest that Liverpool have staked an interest in Davies but their offer has been rejected.
It also seems that Tottenham are willing to back off from Davies as they have become increasingly frustrated in their pursuit of the Wales left-back who is thought to be valued at £12million.
Liverpool meanwhile could re-ignite their interest in Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, who originally appeared to be Anfield bound.
Brendan Rodgers has already hinted at his desire to make 'multi-dimensional' signings capable of coping with the dual demands of Champions League and Premier League football.
