Newcastle could be set to lose midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa in the summer after reports suggested Tottenham have begun discussions with the player's representatives.
Ben Arfa has suffered an injury plagued season at Newcastle, but that hasn't stopped the Frenchman being strongly linked with Liverpool.
He recently incurred the wrath of supporters by wearing a Paris Saint-Germain kit to a Tyneside health club, having previously admitted he would love to play for the French side.
But it appears that Tottenham have stolen a march on both Liverpool and PSG by opening negotiations with Ben Arfa.
According to French TV channel Infosport +, Ben Arfa has already begun conducting talks with Tottenham despite Newcastle having three games left this season and the threat of relegation.
The former Marseille star joined the Magpies in 2010 for a fee that reached around £7m after his initial loan spell, becoming an important fixture in Alan Pardew's side.
This campaign has not gone to plan for Ben Arfa, due to persistent injury niggles but he has still made 19 appearances scoring three goals.
