Echo: De Vrij a target for the summer

Liverpool are monitoring the progress of highly-rated Feyenoord centre-back Stefan de Vrij with a view to a move next summer.

The Reds have sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old Holland international and the reports have been glowing.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers' priority is boosting his firepower in January but he's also looking beyond that window.

Liverpool would face competition for his signature with Arsenal and Chelsea having also expressed an interest in De Vrij.
