Liverpool are lining up a move for Barcelona defender Martin Montoya as Brendan Rodgers looks to solve his problematic left-back position.
Montoya, a full-back who can play on both flanks, is out of contract at the end of the season.
But Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre was in Barcelona yesterday for meetings over the possible transfer of the 22-year-old in the New Year.
Montoya has made seven appearances for the Spanish giants this season but has grown frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities at Camp Nou.
