Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has reportedly had a bid just short of £10m accepted by Lille for Belgium international Divock Origi.
Rodgers looks to have jumped to the front of the queue for the player and is ready to pay £9.8m for the services of the 19-year-old.
Both Tottenham and West Ham are also said to be keen and will try and hijack the deal for a player who is good enough to play in the top flight, according to his Belgium team-mate Jan Vertonghen who has compared him to Manchester United's Adnan Januzaj.
"Januzaj is someone a bit like Origi, there's no pressure and he plays like he's on the street," Vertonghen said.
"Origi has the qualities to play for a good team in the Premier League and I think he shows it every game. He has come on in every game, and he's changed games for us.
"He has the qualities to go to a bigger league, but obviously with Lille playing in the Champions League, we'll see," he added.
