Premier League high-flyers Liverpool have now joined the growing list of suitors trying to sign highly rated Southampton left-back Luke Shaw next season, according to reports in the Mail on Sunday.
The coveted young England international had been expected to join either Premier League champions Manchester United or Uefa Europa League holders Chelsea this summer in a deal worth a reported £30m.
In fact, it has long been widely assumed that the attacking full-back would swap St Mary's for Stamford Bridge next season, with Shaw known to be a lifelong fan of the west London club, while his parents also live close to the Blues' training complex in Cobham too.
However, with the Merseyside giants currently riding high in the Premier League and seemingly looking on course for a top-four finish in the table come the end of the campaign, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is said to now be keen to exploit that success by luring more top-quality players to Anfield this summer.
And top of the Northern Irishman's wish list is said to be the 18-year-old full back who is contracted to the south-coast club until 2018.
