Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana is set to have a medical ahead of a proposed £25m move to Liverpool.
The 26-year-old England international is expected to complete his transfer to the Reds within the next 24 hours.
Liverpool had two bids for Lallana rejected before the World Cup, and Southampton reopened talks after he reiterated his wish to leave the club.
Rickie Lambert has already joined Liverpool from Saints, who have also sold Luke Shaw to Manchester United.Lallana has been at Southampton for 14 years, having joined the club as a 12-year-old from Bournemouth, who hold a 25 per cent sell-on clause.
He featured in all three of England's games at the 2014 Fifa World Cup, as a second-half substitute in the defeats by Italy and Uruguay, and from the start in the 0-0 draw with Costa Rica.
England boss Roy Hodgson has indicated Lallana is one of a group of younger players he will look to in qualifying for the 2016 European Championship in France.
