Liverpool could be set to make a shock move to sign Iker Casillas in the summer, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp has handed Loris Karius the number one jersey. Karius has impressed since taking over duties as the first-choice goalkeeper but Liverpool are said to still be considering a move for a new shot-stopper.

Roma’s Alisson has strongly been linked with a move to Merseyside in recent months.

But reports have suggested the Reds have been put off by Roma’s valuation of the Brazilian.

It is suggested the Serie A club will demand roughly £70million and that is supposedly out of Liverpool’s price range.

And Spanish outlet Mi Otra Liga claim Liverpool could now turn their attention to Porto’s Casillas.

The 36-year-old was given a standing ovation by the Anfield crowd against Porto in their Champions League last-16 second leg earlier this month.

And Casillas expressed his gratitude for the kind gesture on social media after the game, posting a photo of him and Klopp in an embrace accompanied with the caption: “Respect Champions League. Never walk alone.”

The Spanish legend is widely renowned as Real Madrid’s best ever goalkeeper and won five La Liga titles during his time at the Bernabeu as well as three Champions League winners’ medals.
