Sadio Mane is in contention to start for Liverpool against Everton this evening – despite a whirlwind 24 hours flying to Africa and back.

Mane joined Anfield teammate Mohamed Salah in making a brief trip to Ghana for the African Player of the Year awards.

The duo departed for Ghana early on Thursday for the ceremony later in the evening, during which Egypt international Salah pipped Senegalese forward Mane to the top award.

The Liverpool pair then flew back to England during the early hours, with Mane taking part in a light training session on Friday.

And now the forward –who netted in Monday's win at Burnley –has been given the all clear for tonight's FA Cup third round clash against neighbours Everton at Anfield.

Salah will miss that game with a groin problem with Liverpool hopeful their leading scorer will be available for the Premier League visit of Manchester City on Sunday week.
