Mohamed Salah's Liverpool medical is now likely to take place on Thursday.

The Egypt international flew into London on Tuesday night ahead of his club record move from Roma to Anfield.

However, the ECHO understands that Salah has yet to arrive in Liverpool to complete the formalities as he irons out the final details with the Serie A outfit.

The hope is that a deal, which with add-ons will exceed the £35million the Reds paid Newcastle United for Andy Carroll in 2011, will still be announced before the end of the week.

Salah, who scored 19 goals for Roma last season, is expected to pen a five-year contract.

He will become Liverpool's second signing of the summer after they agreed a deal for out-of-contract Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke.

That fee looks set to be determined by a tribunal with the two clubs wide apart in their respective valuations of the England Under-20s international attacker.

Liverpool failed in a bid to sign Salah in 2014 when he joined Chelsea from Basel for £12million. They turned their attentions back to him this summer after Julian Brandt decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
