Liverpool have been told that Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic, who played for two seasons under Jurgen Klopp, is not for sale.

There have been rumours that the 29-year-old Croatian could be a target for English clubs in the summer and the link to Liverpool is obvious - given that Perisic's career took off under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund.

Italian newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport claim Liverpool, as well as Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on Perisic.

But Inter chief Piero Ausilio insists the Croatian winger is going nowhere.

"I do not think it is either Perisic's or our intentions for him to leave," he said.

"He is part of a massive project and we do not want to sell our players.

"We cannot envisage an Inter without Perisic.

"We are not going to get rid of our best players."
