Liverpool will take advantage of uncertainty about who will manage Arsenal next season by hijacking their move for highly-rated Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.

England Under-21 international Chilwell, 20, has only started three Premier League games for the champions.

But Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been keeping tabs on him since last summer and rates him among the finest prospects in the country.

He is tipped to make Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad as soon as he gets some more first-team experience under his belt.

Chilwell last summer signed a new contract keeping him at the King Power Stadium until 2021, but that won’t put Liverpool off finally landing their man this summer.

Arsenal have also been monitoring his progress, but it is now certain that Arsene Wenger will quit the club in the summer, placing any interest in doubt.

Leicester see Chilwell as a bright prospect for the future and will want to keep hold of him, especially if they fail to beat the drop into the Championship.

But Klopp is ready to offer around £10million for a player that he failed to sign for £7m when his bids were rejected last summer.
