Jurgen Klopp has had plenty of praise in his first year as Liverpool manager - from players, pundits and most importantly the fans.

And he’s now got another admirer in the form of a man regarded as one of the best to ever kick a ball, Diego Maradona.

The Argentinian legend has just published a new book and had a chat with Spain’s Marca paper about it.

The man who became infamous for knocking England out of the 1986 World cup with his ’Hand of God’ goal names Liverpool manager Klopp as the manager who most catches his attention at the moment.

Maradona said: “Jurgen Klopp, at Liverpool. I love what he conveys, the type that gives me confidence. Before at Dortmund and now in the Premier League. Klopp is always going forward.”

The former Napoli hero also picked out Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone for the work ethic and style he is able to instill into his teams.

In terms of team, Maradona named Barcelona and Bayern Munich as the best on the planet, with Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski - who sprang to prominence at Dortmund under Klopp - as the world’s best pure striker.”

Klopp often reflects on how average he was as a player but he’s certainly attracted the eye of a man who some think was the greatest ever.
