AC Milan will rival Liverpool for the signature of Piotr Zielinski this summer after making their interest known in the player, according to the Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo.

The Poland international’s mooted move to Anfield has been widely reported in recent weeks, but despite numerous outlets claiming he is a top target of Jürgen Klopp, no deal has been reached.

Pozzo has now revealed the Milan have moved to secure the midfielder’s services.

"Zielinski has attracted the interest of many clubs, including AC Milan," said Pozzo.

"I can say no more. We had an agreement with Napoli but they failed to find an agreement with the player.

"We have to see how things will develop in the future. What’s for sure is that each party must be satisfied before closing the deal."

The Liverpool Echo claim a £11.75million bid has already been rejected by Udinese who are believed to prefer their coveted youngster to move to Napoli.

However, Zielinski is thought to have his heart set on linking up with Klopp and has rejected the chance to join the Serie A runners-up.
