Liverpool's transfer of Sadio Mane may have moved a giant step closer today without the Reds doing a thing.

Southampton signed Norwich winger Nathan Redmond for £11m, in a move that looks to have paved the way for the departure of the Senegalese attacker.

The England under 21 international, who had been loosely linked with a move to Anfield earlier in his career, has played for Norwich 111 times, scoring 11 goals.

He had a medical earlier today and has now put pen to paper on the deal.

With Liverpool likely to pay around £30m for Mane - despite Southampton's initial demands of £40m - they will still be comfortably in the black.

Mane scored 11 league goals last season - eight of them in the final eight matches of the season. He joined Southampton from Salzburg for £10m just two years ago.
